Activation takes under a minute on a normal internet connection. To confirm it worked, return to the Activation screen — it should read “Windows is activated with a digital licence.”

If you are installing Windows 10 fresh rather than upgrading, use the ISO link in your email to create a bootable USB with Microsoft’s Media Creation Tool, then enter the key during setup.

Is this key transferable to another PC?

This key binds permanently to the first machine it activates. If you replace the PC or the motherboard, you will need a new licence. If you want a transferable licence, choose our retail edition instead.

What happens if activation fails

It occasionally does — usually an error like 0xC004C003 or 0xC004F050, and usually because the key was mistyped or entered on an edition it does not match.
